Quick tips for the best results.

Stand back 4-6 feet
Capture the full shelf unit in frame. Get all shelves from top to bottom.

Shoot straight on, not at an angle
Face the shelf head-on so AI can read all product labels clearly.

Long aisles? Take multiple photos
Overlap slightly between photos. AI stitches the products together. Better to take too many than too few.

Hold your phone sideways (landscape)
Landscape captures the full width of the shelf in one shot. Way more products per photo.
Good lighting helps
Avoid glare and shadows. Store lighting is usually fine.

Face your products before scanning
AI reads labels to identify items. Make sure all packages are faced forward with the brand name visible. Bags (chips, snacks) are especially tricky — crinkled or sideways labels get skipped. A quick facing pass before you photograph makes a huge difference.

Shiny bottles, plastic-wrapped bags, and glare can be hard to read even when faced. If a product shows up as "?" just tap it and scan the barcode or type the name — the image will fill in instantly.
