Publishing your first social post

Last updated 2026-05-03

SAGE's fastest social workflow is snap-first: photograph something in your shop, let SAGE draft the copy, then send the draft through the social path your shop has connected.

Before you start

Connect Buffer from the Connections panel. Buffer is the owner-facing bridge for social channels while direct Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and TikTok platform approvals remain guarded. If Buffer is connected, SAGE can draft and queue posts for the channels Buffer already manages.

The snap-first flow

  1. From the dashboard, open Snap-first and upload a photo (or take one directly on your phone).
  2. SAGE reads the image, identifies what you're showing, and writes a draft tuned for the channel.
  3. Edit any draft inline. You can also tweak the voice (more serious, more playful, tighter) and SAGE re-drafts in place.
  4. Send the draft to Buffer now or schedule it for later.

What if you don't have a photo?

You can also start from a digest item or a blank prompt. SAGE will try to source an image automatically: first from the matched Shopify product, then from ISBN/Open Library lookups (books), Google Books, ComicVine (comics), or Discogs (records).

If no image lands and you're posting to Instagram — which requires an image — SAGE automatically generates a 1080×1080 text card using your shop's brand color and name, pre-attaches it to the draft, and shows you the preview before you publish. You don't get bounced to a picker modal; the fallback happens in-flow. You can swap the card for your own image at any time before publishing.

Scheduling

The Schedule for later picker lets you pin a specific date and time. When Buffer is the connected social bridge, SAGE hands the approved draft to Buffer for queued or scheduled publishing.
